at Erik's Bike Favorite Ride: '08 Bad Boy Ultra Bike Setup: Stock Summary: I was an avid mountain biker until I became; married, a father and mostly lazy and fat. My Stumpjumper sat unused for two years! I just sold it and picked up the BBU, it is amazing! So far, I make better time on the roads and paved trails then I did with my Stumpjumper when I was in shape. I am a big fella (260lbs) and I feel very secure on it. Great for getting back into biking, plus if I get back into shape I can make few changes and get back on the trails! Strengths: Quick, nimble, well built. Versatile and sooooo cool looking! It is a comfortable ride. Weaknesses: None yet! See how it holds up. Similar Products Used: GT mountain bike, Stumpjumper '94 and Stumperjumper '03

at Kozy Model Year: 2006 Favorite Ride: Cannondale Bad Boy Ultra Bike Setup: I up graded the components with Scram X-9 shifters, X-O rear derailleur, Shimano XTR front derailleur, Easton carbon handle bars, Egg Beater pedals, carbon seat post & DT Swiss wheels. Summary: I love this bike. It's fast, responsive, great looking and reliable. This bike makes you want to ride. Strengths: Light, disc brakes, fast and responsive Weaknesses: Original component are fine. I recommend upgrading if you ride a lot. The stock Sunrims DS2 are okay but not great.

Price Paid:
$0.00 Model Year: 2007 Summary: I am interested in the Bad Boy Ultra. I see that "Rob" has commented that he put a "rear rack with a set of pannier bags for going to Trader Joe's". I would like to know what type of rack you can put on this bike that will fit around the disc brakes. Can you fit a normal rear rack or is there one made that fits around the rear disc break piece. Thanks.

at REI (10% back at end Model Year: 2007 Bike Setup: Stock with added wireless Cat Eye computer, lights and rear rack with a set of pannier bags for going to Trader Joe's. Summary: I have not the experience in bicycling to parse the qualities of the components of this bike from others in any minute way. I can say that on whole it is quite fun to ride, quite light, fast and nimble, and very nice looking.
My wife asks why I needed a bicycle when I alreaty had a no name mountain bike (a Skykomish). I make the joke that I purchased this bike because "it is black". Though saying this is a vast over simplification, I really do love it's understated and ungaudy appearance. There is no way I am going to be seen with some multi colored, multi springy grasshopper with only half a fork. This bicycle looks like it is a classic in the making.
It simply makes me want to ride it everyday when I get home from work. It makes me think about riding when riding is unavailable and it makes me late in returning home not because it is slow but rather because I want to push on just a bit further than planned everytime. Strengths: Color scheme and styling, speed and agility, lightweight construction(certainly compared to my steel Skykomish). Smoothness of the ride, while coasting or pedaling. Weaknesses: When the fork is locked out it suddenly seems to be a bit "klunky" when hitting bumps. Even small cracks in the sidewalk cause a jolting noise in the head shock which made me at first wonder if everything was connected tightly enough. Not a big deal but I will mention it to the tech at the 200 mile free tune up to be sure. Similar Products Used: Beastly, heavy and less expensive Skykomish mountain bike.

at REI Model Year: 2007 Favorite Ride: 07 Cannondale Big Boy Ultra Bike Setup: Mostly stock, haven't found components to drool over yet. I'll wear out what's on it first. Summary: Great bike that provides more strength than regular commuter types bikes. I planned on taking my old Cannondale F1000 and turn it in to a commuter but fell in love with the Bad Boy Ultra instead (that sounds wrong). Smooth and fast, could be a bit lighter though. Strengths: Not flashy, lacks the "girly" look of other commuter bikes. Great bike for urban commuting. Single track ready Headshock. Weaknesses: Components could be better for the price, but hey, it's a Cannondale. Similar Products Used: Converted Cannondale F1000
