Price Paid:  $280.00 at Trailhead Cycling an

Model Year:
2006

Favorite Ride:
Elm Creek Park Reserve

Summary:
I got the bike in May 2007. I was very pleased with it, because I had previously owned a secondhand Nishiki model that was basically junk with wheels. I did like the seat on my old bike, and switched that with the seat that came with the Edgewood. The ride is very smooth. This is the first bike I have owned with shocks, and I like that they are adjustable, making it more versatile, depending on what terrain I'm riding on. I'm fourteen years old, and haven't yet decided whether I prefer road riding or mountain biking. This bike is capable of both. Good for beginners, I think.

Strengths:
I love the trigger-type shifters, and the size of the bike. I'm taller than most people I know, and most bikes I looked at would be too small for me. I also like the size of the tires. They make it an easier ride on a paved road/trail, and still have enough traction for wet surfaces and/or gravel. It also has space for two water cages, so I can go on longer rides without having to take a backpack to carry more water.

Weaknesses:
The original seat that came with the bike was wide and uncomfortable. That's the biggest problem. This isn't really necessary, but it would be much better to have disc brakes, because the V brakes slip in the rain.

Price Paid:  $280.00 at Dick's Sporting Good

Model Year:
2007

Favorite Ride:
Silver Comet Trail

Summary:
Good bike for the money. I changed the seat and the pedals (the weak points of the bike) and have been happy with it. No problems with gears. I ride approx. 25 miles 3 times a week and recommend this as a great starter bike. I will upgrade in about a year but this will do for now!

Strengths:
Good value.

Weaknesses:
Seat, pedals

Price Paid:  $250.00 at Jones Bicycles

Model Year:
2007

Favorite Ride:
Grocery Store

Bike Setup:
Jones Bicycle assembled the bike and installed the rear rack for free.

Summary:
The Diamond Seat is very uncomfortable after 5 minutes riding on a paved street. The low geers did slip when I was going on an incline.
Overall, it is just an average bike. I also had the store install a rack. Bad idea. It ended up blocking the rear reflector.

Strengths:
Smooth ride when you are crusing on a paved road with no incline.

Weaknesses:
Manufacturer seat is VERY uncomfortable.
Gears slip when going uphill.

Price Paid:  $0.00

Model Year:
2007

Summary:
The bike is actually a 2008 but this website doesn't give me the option to choose that.

I bought the bike at Sports Authority. I haven't rode a bike in over 15 years and i decided it was time to get back back into it.

The ride is very comfortable. The gears shift pretty smoothly. The seat is pretty uncomfortable.

The only real issue i have is that i bought a 17" frame which is too small for me. Be careful that if you choose to buy it at Sports Authority that there is someone there to size you up.

I loved the bike right when i got it but i have been using it much more than i thought i would. That being said, i think i need to upgrade to a real road bike. This bike isn't ideal for someone who does long rides frequently.

This price retails at $350. At that price it is overpriced. It is a great deal if you pay between $225-$275.

Strengths:
Comofortable, Good Shifters, Good Components for the Price

Weaknesses:
Seat
