at online store Favorite Ride: Montague Paratrooper Bike Setup: Stock setup, except for doodads like tires, fenders, racks, quick-release pedals. For details ad nausea um, see the Dahon and Montague websites. Summary: I put the Armadillo Crossroads on both my wife's Dahon Matrix and my Montague Paratrooper, and the tires are just what I'd hoped they'd be.
I only have one bike, so it has to do everything competently, and needed a good all around tire with reasonable traction, low rolling resistance and I wanted bomb-proofness, too. This tire fits the bill. Strengths: Good tread pattern, reasonably high-pressure and narrow what-touches-pavement part of tread, so they roll well. They're also TOUGH, which is what I want. I doubt my wife could fix a flat tire inside of half a day, so I wanted tires we wouldn't have to worry about. I also hate knobby tires, because of the rolling resistance and mud-flinging properties. So far, the crossroads are great. Weaknesses: Heavy. Pricey. If the red sidewalls didn't go so well with my bike, I'd say they were ugly, too, but I guess I can't say that. Similar Products Used: I have a set of Specialized all-around tires for my old mountain bike, and they work well. I decided to go with the armadillo crossroads because they seem like the toughest thing out there in the all around category.
