Bike Setup: I run it stock though plan to replace the saddle which doesn't work for me. Saddles are a personal thing so the stock saddle might work well for others, but on the trainer I occasionally go numb and it just never feels perfect.
Summary: Very happy with the Scott S20. I'm a mountain bike racer that needed a road bike to train on, and this fit the bill perfectly. I bought an '07 model in Jan '08 for 15% off.
The bike comes with 105 components which I guess are heavier than ultegra and dura ace, but seem to be well-made and I've had zero issues in the 4 months of hard riding. The Shimano wheelset places the spoke nipples on the hub instead of the rim, which other riders say is a silly gimmick, but moving rotational weight inward without any apparent drawbacks can't be all bad.
My only real issue was at 5'6", I fit right between the 49 and 52 sizes, and went with the 52 and a 90mm stem. It's still a wee big but I didn't like the shorter wheelbase of the 49, so I'm happy overall.
Strengths: Value, looks, performance.
Weaknesses: None seen

Bike Setup: All stock except for the Continental tires, and Shimano pedals.
Summary: This is a 2008. Great bike for recreational riders. I am very pleased with the quality and price. This bike feels lighter than 19lbs out on the road, and accelerates quickly. The compact crank has all the gears needed for the flats and hills. For the money, I could not find a better deal. I looked for 6-8 months, and kept coming back to the S20. My old bike was a Trek 1000, so the difference between the two is night and day, so I rated the S20 very high.If you have $2000.00 laying around to blow on a bike, get a CR1, but if you are on a budget like me, this bike is a hit.
Strengths: Stiff frame, quality Shimano comp.
Weaknesses: Wire bead tires were heavy, but that was a cheap upgrade. Can't really think of anything else.

Summary: This bike is very good for training. 105 is enough for a three hour raid, anyway it needs to be tuned with some frequency. Very fast bike with a stiff frame - fabulous frame. I didnt buy CR1 because of my budget, and i didnt loose anything special. Confortable sadle. I have it since February and i have 400Km on it. One flat on front tire. Very good bike for the price.
Strengths: Frame, fork, wheels.
Weaknesses: Brakes.
