Price Paid:  $2500.00 at The Bikery

Model Year:
2007

Favorite Ride:
Long and hilly, Western NJ

Bike Setup:
Ultegra drive train, Shimano WH550 wheelset, Pinarello MOST otherwise.

Summary:
I just got this bike. The frame is the same as the much costlier F4:13 (built on same molds) but with a lesser grade of carbon to make it more affordable. Even though I just got it, I can tell it is an amazing machine. The geometry is pretty traditional, and the thing really moves. Climbs great, and accelerates quickly on flats. I think Pinarello really hit the mark selling this as a built-up bike. The Ultegra drive train is crisp and reliable, as per its reputation. I was a little skeptical about some of the other components, but the Shimano wheels are reasonably light, and climb well. The other components (cranks, seat, etc) are mostly the Pinarello MOST house brand, and are at least adequate. Plus, love the shape of that cool ONDA fork. I also ride a Specialized Tarmac and the differences are apparent--the Tarmac is a great bike, and one I will still use, esp for long distance rides. The Pinarello is obviously stiffer, but this make it move quicker, with little compromise in the comfort department---it still soaks up alot of the rough spots on the urban roads I occasionally ride on.

Strengths:
Great looking frame and finish. Mostly excellent components for the price. Carbon, but not a dead ride.

Weaknesses:
None so far.

Similar Products Used:
Specialized Tarmac.
